Faux Freckle Semi Permanent tattoos are a new service in which freckles are manually inputted into the skin using a needle and tattoo machine. Freckle shades are custom mixed to give the most natural outcome.
When healed, freckles appear 30-50% lighter in colour, and shrink in size by 30-40% so are tattooed on larger and darker initially to allow for this change during healing.
Aftercare is very important for the best results for your freckles.
Initial healing takes 10 days, but the skin will not be fully healed for 6-8 weeks so most colour and shade changes happen in this time.
Results will last around 12-24 months, but longevity will vary from person to person.
It is normal for your skin to appear red after initial treatment, and feel tight - this will last up to 2-3 hours but will settle down quickly.
Faux Freckle Tattoo Pre-Care
What is Pre-Care? Well, its the things you should do and be aware of prior to your appointment, for example there are some things you should avoid in the weeks and days before your appointment:
-
Don’t go sunbathing or tanning for 7 days. Tanned skin is more sensitive.
-
Stop using any retinol or Vitamin A products one month prior. These thin out the skin and make it bleed more.
-
Avoid alcohol, caffeine, ibuprofen, aspirin and fish oil supplements for at least 24 hours prior to your appointment.
-
Don’t do any facials at least two weeks before the treatment.
Make sure you eat well before treatment, it is a tattoo after all!
Keep your skin hydrated on the lead up to your treatment by drinking lots of water and moisturize if you're feeling dry!
So what do you need to do to look after your Freckles post Treatment?
-
Refrain from touching the area as long as possible. No scratching or picking, no matter how tempting it is!
-
Keep the treated area dry for 24 hours.
-
From day 2 to day 10, clean the area twice a day using freshly boiled but cooled water on a cotton pad. Pat dry and then apply a rice grain amount of the aftercare ointment provided with clean hands.
What can't you do after your Freckle appointment?
-
No makeup in the treated area for about 10 days.
-
Don’t get the area soaking wet for about 10 days. No swimming, no saunas or steam baths, and no excessive sweating.
-
Stay away from direct sunlight for about 2 weeks, including sunbeds.
-
Avoid harsh skincare ingredients, especially peels and exfoliators. Skincare with lots of fragrance can cause a stinging sensation
For long lasting results, ensure you use SPF daily.
What to expect when healing your Faux Freckle Tattoo
The freckle tattoo healing process is not as intensive as with some other PMU treatments. It does entail some minor immediate side-effects, and a few days of scabbing, and then flaking.
Here’s an overview of the freckle tattoo healing process:
Day 1 – Redness, minor swelling, dark in colour
Day 2 – Redness, swelling and irritation should have subsided. Scabbing starts, colour deepens.
Days 3-5 – A thin scabby film is formed over the freckles. The area might feel dry or start itching.
Days 5-7 – When the skin underneath heals, the scabby film will start to flake off. Freckles appear very light in colour
Days 8-14 – Flaking should end. Freckles settled to desired colour
